BMS is a professional management course being offered by Faculty of Applied Social Sciences & Humanities (FASSH), University of Delhi. Keshav Mahavidyalaya has been offering this prestigious course since the year 2007 with the objective of inculcating in students smart business thinking and the ability to apply their intellect and managerial skills under challenging work environment.

"Pedagogy" - Faculty Excellence
The BBS/BMS faculty is known for their expertise in various areas and work in close co-operation with the students for their holistic development. The faculty has vast teaching and research experience. They ensure to develop the students holistically through the rich pedagogy. The teaching and evaluation methodology adopted by the faculty includes innovative tools such as case study, live projects, role play, videos, scenario planning, management research projects, problem solving methods, e lessons, assignments etc along with conventional classroom teaching. It lays emphasis on seamlessly integrating the theoretical concepts with practical knowledge, by providing the students with the most appropriate environment for learning.

LABORATORIES

The BBS/BMS computer lab is fully air-conditioned and well equipped with internet facility and advanced analytics software like SPSS. The infrastructure in the lab promotes research work amongst the students and the faculty members. The lab is also a repository of research projects of students of earlier batches for quick reference by current students. The lab provides an opportunity to the students for acquiring technological skills through regular training sessions.

The BMS Department organises various workshops/ expert lectures to provide an opportunity to the students for discussing relevant aspects of industry and economy with experienced people from different areas of specialization. The workshops/ lectures help the students to develop personal skills such as corporate etiquettes, interview handling, group discussion, team building, time management, conflict resolution skills and curriculum/technical skills such as SPSS, Excel, Tally, Capitaline etc.   Some of the eminent speakers from Industry and academia who have interacted with the students in the past.

At BMS, we strive to develop the students holistically and provide opportunities for developing beyond the prescribed curriculum by organising or participating in various training sessions round the year. The prominent flagship events organised are:

COGNIZANCE


The Department organizes its two-day Annual Corporate event for undergraduate students on a contemporary management theme, with a Seminar on the first day and competitive events on the second day.

In 2015-16, the Department organized its annual flagship event on 23rd and 24th February'2016 in the college premises. The theme for this year's Seminar was, "Decoding Success: How Ordinary People Get Extraordinary Results.”  Students had the privilege of hearing from the prominent speakers like –

Chief Guest Mr. Deepak Bhardwaj, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Samsung South West Asia;

Guest of Honour Prof. Suresh Aggarwal, Dean, Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Humanities;

Mr. Ramesh Agarwal, CMD Agarwal Packers and Movers and

Mr. Subodh Sangle, spokesperson from Mumbai Dabbawalas.

Interaction with such experts from the industry enabled the students to broaden their perspectives for a successful life. Such interface is organized to acquaint students with the corporate culture, industry expectations, managing start-ups and developing entrepreneurial skills.

 

C.E.O.(Challenge,Enrich, Outperform)

 

The Department organizes its annual event for school students, mainly class XI and XII which includes a career counselling session by the distinguished career counsellors and hosts a number of events with a management orientation. The various activities like Debate, Street Play, Quiz, Photography, Corporate Hunt, Spell Bee, Marketing Mavericks, mock IPL Auction and Mock-Stock are organised by the management students 

This year, CEO witnessed a very high footfall of school students from across Delhi to be guided by the renowned career counsellor Dr. Sanjib Kumar Acharya about the future prospects of higher education and guided them about selection of a career path wisely.

 

Alumni Meet

 

The department organizes an Alumni meet annually. The alumni share their work experiences with the students and also interact with their teachers. These meets provide an opportunity for the students to learn from their seniors, get information on internships and job opportunities through networking with the alumni. Some alumni who have initiated their own start-ups also offer internships and job opportunities to the students.

Creative Expressions through- ‘Perspective’

‘Perspective’ is the department’s annual newsletter that promotes the creative expression of students and chronicles the department’s activities round the year. The department has come up with 6 issues of Perspective so far. The annual newsletter showcases the writing flair of its students and chronicles the department’s events each year. This year, the department released the sixth volume of the annual newsletter ‘Perspective’ on the occasion of Cognizance 2015.

 Industrial Visits

 

In order to have regular corporate interface, Department also organises Industrial Visits for its students every year. The plant visits provides an insight into the practical working of the manufacturing industry. The students are shown the processes of quality check at the various stages beginning from raw material inspection to the final testing and packaging. The students get to observe layout of the plant, manual and automated processes of manufacturing, assembling, quality control, packaging, storage and dispatch, safety and security measures adopted by the organizations. They also learn about productions and operations management at the plant with various other management aspects which enriches their understanding about corporate functioning. Students have had an opportunity to visit companies like Yakult Danone India, Ltd.,Halonix Pvt Ltd, National Stock Exchange, LG, Honda Siel, Jubilant Organosys, Frontiers Biscuits factory at Bahadurgarh, Relaxo Footwear Ltd., Railway Coach Factory and Mother Dairy Plant.
